FRP Lamination and FRP Lining in Malaysia - On Site or at Our Factory
Mui Fatt provides FRP lamination, also called FRP lining, in Malaysia. It is a fiberglass reinforced plastic layer laid by hand onto concrete, mild steel or stainless steel to protect it from chemicals, corrosion and leaks. The work is carried out at your site or at our factory in Port Klang by our FRP manufacturing company, Y.T. Fibreglass Industries Sdn Bhd. The resin is chosen for the job: general purpose polyester for waterproofing, isophthalic polyester or vinyl ester for chemical service.

How the Lining Is Built
- Surface preparation: concrete is blasted to remove laitance; steel is ground to remove rust; dust is vacuumed off.
- Primer: one coat of resin primer.
- Laminate: at least 1 ply of 450 g/m² E-glass chopped strand mat, usually up to 3 plies (about 1 mm each), and 2 to 5 plies for chemical tanks. Each ply is rolled into wet resin to remove trapped air.
- Surface veil and topcoat: one ply of surface veil, then a waxed resin topcoat.
- Inspection: visual check for blisters, cracks and trapped air, with the plies counted as they are laid.

What is FRP lamination?
It is a layer of glass fibre mat and resin built up by hand on a surface. Once cured it forms a hard, seamless lining that resists chemicals and water.
Can the work be done at our site?
Yes. We line on site, or you can send the item to our factory. Tanks, pools, pits and roofs are usually lined on site; shafts and steel parts at the factory.
Which resin do I need?
General purpose polyester suits waterproofing. Isophthalic polyester or vinyl ester suits chemical service. Tell us the chemical, its strength and its temperature and we will advise.
How much does FRP lamination cost?
It depends on the area, the number of plies, the resin and the site. Send us photos and sizes for a quotation.
