FRP Chemical and Wastewater Treatment Tanks

FRP Chemical and Wastewater Treatment Tanks in Malaysia - Built to Your Drawing

Mui Fatt supplies FRP chemical and wastewater treatment tanks in Malaysia, manufactured by its subsidiary Y.T. Fibreglass Industries Sdn Bhd. The range covers five open-top tank shapes for wastewater treatment plants, sewage treatment plants and chemical plants. Every tank is built to the customer's drawing, with the resin matched to the liquid it will hold, and is typically produced in 7 to 14 working days. FRP and GRP are two names for the same glass-fibre reinforced plastic.

Models and Sizes

Model Size Use
FRP Round Open-Top Tank, Flat Base Diameter 1 m to 3 m (4 m subject to road access) Pre-treatment water, sludge water
FRP Round Open-Top Tank with Conical Base and Support Diameter 1 m to 3 m (4 m subject to road access) Clarifier, bio tank, coagulation tank, PAC chemical holding tank
FRP Square Tank with Pyramid Base (Primary Clarifier) Width 1 m to 4 m, height under 4 m Primary clarifier, settling tank
FRP Rectangular Open-Top Tank with Mild Steel Support and Partition Width 1 m to 4 m, length up to 8 m, height under 4 m PAC chemical holding tank
FRP Sludge Holding Tank Diameter 1 m to 3 m, lying horizontally Sludge holding before the filter press

Tank heights are kept under 4 m for road transport, with 3 m suggested.

Resin Selection Guide

  • GP (orthophthalic polyester): for water and mild, non-aggressive liquids.
  • ISO (isophthalic polyester): a premium polyester with good chemical resistance.
  • Vinyl ester: for severe corrosion, including strong acids and alkalis, hydrocarbons and organic solvents.
  • Hybrid: vinyl ester inside for chemical resistance, GP outside for economy.

Tell us the chemical, its concentration and its temperature, and we will recommend the resin.

How the Tanks Are Made

Round tank bodies are filament wound and then laminated. Square and rectangular tanks are hand laid up on a wooden mould. Support stands come in bare mild steel, mild steel laminated with FRP, or pultruded FRP. Tanks are designed to BS 4994, and filament wound tanks also to ASTM D3299, with engineering calculations on request. A resin-rich inner layer with polyester veil can be added as an extra corrosion barrier. The laminate is the same as our Mui Tank range, tested at 103.0 MPa tensile strength (limit 70 min).

Installation

Every tank must sit on a level concrete plinth at least 250 mm (10 in) above ground, free of stones and debris. Support every connecting pipe on its own footing, and lift the tank only when empty, using the lifting lugs. A round flat-base tank can have a semi-transparent strip down the side, or a transparent level tube, so the liquid level can be seen from outside.

FAQ

What is an FRP chemical and wastewater treatment tank?
It is a fibreglass reinforced plastic tank built to hold water treatment chemicals, wastewater and sludge, with the resin matched to the liquid it will hold.

What sizes are available?
Round tanks are 1 m to 3 m in diameter, with 4 m subject to road access. Square and rectangular tanks are 1 m to 4 m wide, rectangular tanks up to 8 m long, and heights stay under 4 m for road transport.

What is a PAC chemical holding tank?
It is a tank that stores PAC (polyaluminium chloride) coagulant for dosing in water and wastewater treatment. We make it as a round conical-base tank or a rectangular tank with partition.

Can I see the liquid level in the tank?
Yes. A round flat-base tank can have a semi-transparent strip down the side, or a transparent level tube, so the liquid level can be seen from outside.

What is the lead time?
Typically 7 to 14 working days, subject to the production schedule.

How much does an FRP chemical or wastewater tank cost?
Every tank is built to order, so the price depends on size, shape, resin and support. Send us your drawing or sizes for a quotation.
