MG 38-38 custom size is MuiGrate FRP (fibreglass) molded grating, 38 mm thick with 38 x 38 mm square mesh, cut at our factory to the size you give us. Any width and length up to the full 1,220 x 3,660 mm (4 x 12 ft) panel can be cut, to ±5 mm.

Councils and contractors use this to buy exactly the pieces a drain or pit needs, instead of full sheets. Pipe cut-outs and odd shapes are made on request; pieces under 300 x 300 mm need a check with us first.

Support Span Guide (Pedestrian Use)

Span is the clear gap between supports. Static loads at 1% deflection, safety factor 2.0. Pedestrian traffic only (BS 4592), not vehicles.

How to Measure

Measure the recess wall to wall; that is the grating size.
Leave at least 50 mm of ledge on each side for support.
Keep drain pieces to 1.5 m or shorter so they lift out easily.
If the clear span is too wide for the load, add a steel or concrete support underneath to halve it.
Mark pipe positions on a sketch or send a photo.

Can cars or lorries drive on it?
No. MuiGrate FRP grating is designed for pedestrian traffic only, as BS 4592 sets out. For areas with vehicles, use a steel or concrete cover.
