This MuiGrate cover is an open FRP (fibreglass) pultruded grating in a high-strength pultruded FRP L-type frame, the F series in our catalogue (models MGA gritted and MGE plain). Aluminium hinges are standard, and FRP fishtail anchors hold the frame in the concrete.

With no steel in the frame, nothing rusts, so it suits sewage plants, coastal sites and chemical areas. Single leaf covers go up to 1,200 x 1,200 mm; larger pits use a double leaf (MGB and MGF).

How to Size a Cover

Give the clear opening of the pit as width x length (W x L); for round covers, the diameter.
The cover is made at least 50 mm larger than the actual sump opening, so it rests on the ledge.
Frame depth is about 30 mm for 25 mm grating, 44 mm for 38 mm and 50 mm for 50 mm grating.
Single leaf covers go up to 1,200 x 1,200 mm; larger openings use a double leaf.

No rust, no scrap value: FRP does not corrode and has no resale value, so covers are not stolen like steel.
Light: one or two workers lift a cover without machinery.
Non-conductive: safe near pumps, panels and cables.
Anti-slip: gritted top or 3 mm chequered plate.
